ROUTINE

PODIATRY

At Gait & Rehab Clinic our team of podiatrists are
registered with the Health & Care Professions
Council to provide foot care for children, adults
and the elderly.

What is Routine Podiatry?

Routine podiatry forms the foundation of good foot health and is essential for maintaining mobility and comfort in your daily activities. At Gait & Rehab, we believe that regular foot care is just as important as your dental or eye check-ups.

Our routine podiatry services go beyond basic foot care. We take a holistic approach, assessing not just the immediate concern but also how it might relate to your overall lower limb health and daily activities. This comprehensive assessment ensures we're addressing the root cause, not just the symptoms.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

History

Initially our practitioner will review your medical history and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your foot issue. All patient information is taken in
a private room and stored on our
secure database for privacy & security.

Assessment

Before any treatment, your practitioner will undertake a visual and sometimes physical examination to assess the cause of your condition and the treatment plan they will follow to achieve the best outcome.

Treatment

Once you are happy with the treatment plan, you will be treated in a clean environment, with sterile instruments (if needed) together with the latest technology so we can provide the highest standard of care in-line with evidenced based medicine.

How many treatments will I need?

Simple conditions such as corns and calluses (hard skin) and minor nail complaints are treated in one session.

Recurring conditions and those that need a treatment plan such as verrucae, fungal infections etc. often need regular treatment.

The treatment regime is determined by your practitioner who will discuss this with you.

How often should I have routine podiatry treatment?

Routine podiatry is as important as regular dental and optical check-ups in maintaining your general health and wellbeing.

Depending on your individual issues, we might suggest an appointment 2-3 times per year, but for more acute conditions, 6-8 weeks is more normal. Your podiatrist will advise you accordingly at your initial appointment

Who can receive this treatment?

With a few exceptions, most people will benefit from a routine foot appointment as we always assess your general and lower limb health together with the treatment we provide.

What is included in a routine podiatry appointment?

At your initial appointment, your podiatrist will review your medical history and lifestyle to understand what might be contributing to you foot issue.

Then, they will undertake an assessment, checking things like your circulation, neurological status and range of motion.

Your podiatrist will then advise you of their recommended treatment plan, both for immediate relief and for future prevention.
