Footscan©

3D foot scanning is the most accurate way to
determine the direction and distribution of force
that can cause repetitive pain, injury and tissue
damage.

What is a 3D Footscan© ?

At Gait & Rehab Clinic our 3D Footscans© are included as part of our biomechanical assessment. We use it to determine the direction, force and peak pressures that can cause pain and injury when combined with muscle and joint dysfunction or poor tissue viability.

A 3D Footscan enhances our practitioners diagnosis of complex musculoskeletal complaints resulting in:

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

History

Our MSK (musculoskeletal) practitioner will take a full medical, medication, lifestyle & occupational history to determine whether any of these factors may cause or contribute to your presenting condition. This information is taken during a private consultation and stored on our secure database for your privacy & security.

Assessment

There are three elements to a Footscan©. Firstly, we assess you standing to analyse your posture. We then assess your balance to determine proprioception and muscle strength. Finally we analyse your gait (walking / running) to get a detailed dynamic report of your lower limb mechanics.

Treatment

One we have analysed the data, we can make a informed diagnosis and offer a treatment plan if necessary. Conditions caused by repetitive pressure and forces can be successfully treated by: modifying lifestyle, sport &, footwear. Strengthening & stretching exercises, orthoses (prescription insoles), shockwave and laser therapy.

Gait & Rehab Clinic is a PHITS 3D Footscan© accredited clinic.

What is the purpose of a 3D Footscan©?

The Footscan is just one tool used by your podiatrist to understand how your feet interact with the ground. The images produced show areas of high pressure and by replaying the image in slow-motion, your podiatrist can look for differences between your left and right foot.

We can also see the direction and speed of pressure transfer through the foot as you move through the gait cycle.

Patients are fascinated to see how their feet work, and the clear, colour images help us to explain exactly what is happening in a way that patients can clearly understand.

Who is a 3D Footscan© suitable for?

Anyone who is concerned about their musculoskeletal health.

We have assessed children as young as 2 years to adults as old as 95 years.

There is no age limit to the assessment and the tests are modified to suit the ability of the patient.

You can always request a free telephone consultation with our podiatrist by calling the clinic on 01564 314614 or sending us an email via our contact form HERE.

What is the cost of follow-on treatment?

The first step to recovery is understanding the cause of your condition which will be explained to you at the end of your assessment.

In many cases we provide a bespoke stretching / strengthening plan to help you rehabilitate at home.

This is included in your assessment fee.

Should you require any further intervention such as:

- Orthoses

- Shockwave Therapy

- Laser Therapy

- X-ray or ultrasound imaging

The cost will be fully explained to you at the end of the consultation.
