Hi, I’m Usamah, and I’ve been lucky enough to call podiatry my passion since 2018. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in all sorts of roles—from the NHS and private practice to the charity sector and even an exciting stint in Australia. Each experience has shaped how I approach my work, and I’ve loved every moment of helping people get back on their feet—literally!
One of the things I enjoy most about my job is meeting new people, really understanding what’s going on with their feet, and working together to get them moving comfortably again. I’m all about finding not just quick fixes but long-term solutions that fit into your lifestyle. Prevention is key, too, so I always try to help my patients make small changes that can keep them pain-free for the long haul.
After working with Kate for a number of years, we decided to take the plunge and open a clinic together in Knowle—it felt like such a natural next step. At Gait and Rehab, we’re offering podiatry and musculoskeletal services, and we’re all about helping you figure out what’s causing those annoying aches and pains and finding ways to make them disappear for good! Whether you’ve got a tiny niggle or something more serious, I’m committed to getting you back on track and doing what you love.
Some of the best moments for me are hearing how much of a difference our treatments make. I’ve seen marathon runners bounce back to their peak performance and people just thrilled to be able to walk without pain again. It’s incredibly rewarding, and that’s why I do what I do!
I also love to give back and do a bit of mentoring for students and colleagues. Being able to pass on what I’ve learned over the years is something I’m really passionate about. On top of that, I’m proud to be on the Board of Directors for The Royal College of Podiatry, where I’ve had the privilege of helping shape the profession’s future with our 2030 vision. I’ve even had the chance to speak at national conferences, which has been an exciting way to share ideas and learn from others.
When I’m not in clinic, you can usually find me working on my MBA or getting lost in a good book—whether it’s a gripping thriller or something to keep me up to date on the latest podiatry trends. I also love going for long walks (yes, even after spending all day on my feet!) and exploring the beautiful local trails around the Midlands.
I’m really excited about what the future holds for our clinic. My vision is to build a space where the community can come for expert care and feel genuinely looked after. It’s important to me that everyone who walks through our doors feels supported, and I’m determined to help people leave with confidence, pain-free, and ready to take on the world again.
I can’t wait to meet you and show you what we can offer at Gait and Rehab. So come on down, step into health and let’s work together to get you moving comfortably again!
I have been a podiatrist for 27 years, much of that time being based in Kenilworth. I established Kenilworth Footcare in 2018, and the clinic has gone from strength to strength. However, we had run out of space to offer a really comprehensive gait assessment service for patients with foot, ankle, knee, or hip pain. So many aches and pains start with the feet - if there are joint restrictions or muscle imbalances at ground level, this causes compensations further up the body.
Not wanting to uproot the Kenilworth clinic, Usamah and I decided to search for premises nearby. In this location, we could focus on musculoskeletal (MSK) issues as well as providing regular foot care. As soon as we found the building in Chester Court in Knowle, we knew we had found the right place! Spacious, on the ground floor, with a public car park opposite - it ticked all the boxes! And Knowle is such a great town! We knew we would be lucky to be based there, with its vibrant mix of businesses and sense of community.
And so here we are. Usamah providing the very best in podiatric care, and me providing the business know-how behind the scenes, ably assisted by our super-efficient Practice Manager, Sarah, who will be keeping an eye on both clinics.
I live in Stratford and love the variety of routes to Knowle that take me through beautiful countryside and lovely villages. I'm married to Neil, an English teacher who proofreads my copy and is a dab hand with a paintbrush. We have 2 grown-up children. I enjoy going to the gym and walking our Jack Russell, Milo.
Sarah's:
I started with Kenilworth Footcare as a Receptionist on its opening day back in November 2018. My background in administration, accounts and customer service stood me in very good stead, but I quickly learned more about feet than I ever thought possible. As the practice grew, I took on more responsibility and have been the official Practice Manager for the last 2 years.
I ensure the smooth running of the clinic, making sure the systems and procedures run as they should, keeping a close eye on stock levels, and general trouble-shooting.
I was born in Coventry, but have lived in Kenilworth for 25 years. I have 2 grown-up children and enjoy travelling, socialising with friends and spending time with my family.
Sarah has been with the clinic since it opened in 2018. She deals with much of the administrative work behind the scenes as well as being on the front desk.
